By lifting or lowering the top of ‘Bijou’, you create the desired height. A very simple act, reminiscent of a childhood toy. Such a shared childhood memory ensures a design’s timelessness. ‘Bijou’ gives a playful nod to the Art Deco, as do a number of Roderick Vos’s designs. And to Japan, where this kind of seemingly simple construction is a recurring theme.
